Bachelor Breakdown: the competition begins

Let the tug of war begin on "Listen to Your Heart"

This episode of “Listen to Your Heart” changed the name of the game, now it’s a competition. Let’s be real here — all the Bachelor franchises are basically a competition.

Who gets the girl? Who gets the guy? Who loses and gets sent home?

Well “Listen to Your Heart” just amplified that harsh reality. From now on, every week the couples will compete in a singing contest, and whoever sounds the best and has the strongest connection will get to perform on tour together after the show ends. Woah. That’s insane.

A few people went home at the beginning of the episode because they didn’t find a solid connection in their relationship to move on in the competition. And some of the ones going through a rough patch stayed, which good for them I guess? But does this mean they are there for the right reasons?

The couples started off in the competition were Bri and Chris, Matt and Rudi, Jamie and Trevor, Savannah and Brandon, Sheridan and Julia, Natasha and Ryan, and Bekah and Danny.

These are all quite interesting matchups and their sounds jive very well together, even if some are into different genres of music. There were a few dates this episode too, but they didn’t really showcase them that well. I kind of want the show to decide if they want to showcase the connection more or the singing competition more. This episode was chaotic because there was so much to focus on.

The main thing that I want to dive into is the drama. There has to be drama.

Julia is not over Brandon — clearly. He picked Savannah again in the episode but Julia is still latching on. She told Savannah off to her face by telling her how she’s fake and not here for the right reasons.

Blah. Blah. Blah.

Julia needs to go home. Seriously. Either that or put more energy into that hippy looking man next you, Sheridan. Who’s Sheridan? The guy you are coupled with! I can’t believe he is still with her — he cares about her so much and it doesn’t feel like the feelings are reciprocated. She is focusing on Brandon way too much.

I still don’t understand why Brandon is such a hot commodity anyways, he isn’t that good looking to me.

It just felt like this whole drama engulfed me this episode and left me exhausted. I couldn’t focus on the relationships that are really taking off.

With that being said — I am a huge fan of Bri and Chris being together. They are adorable and I want them to get married. The way they look at each other with pure love, even during their performance, just melts my heart. The rest of the performances were okay to me, Trevor and Jamie’s went really well. She leaned on him and it shows how much their hearts are there for each other.

At the end of the competition the judges sent a couple home. The judges consisted of Bachelor alums and famous singers — they judged if they are good together as a couple. Ouch. That has to hurt being told you aren’t compatible with someone.

The couple that was sent home this week was Bekah and Danny. I’m not really surprised; they did seem to create a solid friendship but also they haven’t known each other that well. I hope they find happiness outside the show with each other, or even someone else.

So what’s going to happen next week?

First off the competition continues and second off…. we will find out if Julia pushes her way back into Brandon’s heart and crushes Sheridan’s.

Julia, I guess the best advice I can give you is — “Listen to Your Heart”
