Here's how to make the chai latte you've been craving

Most of us have a signature order when we go to coffee shops. As the stay-at-home order continues, many of us are missing our chai lattes or other drinks. Believe it or not, it is something that is easy to make at home.

Fun fact, chai tea’s full name is masala chai which means spice blend. It originated in India and is traditionally bitter, according to Fab Fit Fun. The drink we are used to is “elevated” with honey to bring out its sweetness.

What you’ll need:

  • Chai tea (powder or tea leaves)
  • Water
  • Sweetener
  • Milk or milk alternative
  • Ice
  • Mug
  • Glass
  • Spoon
  • Optional: chai spice flavoring
  • Optional: straw

Fill up an eight to 12-ounce mug with water and bring to a mild boil. This can be over the stove, or in the microwave for two minutes. Add in the chai blend and let it steep for five minutes. Add two tablespoons of sweetener and mix after steeping.

Fill a glass with ice and pour the tea with two inches of room. Add a splash of milk and stir with a spoon.

If using a chai powder, add equal scoops of chai and warm water and mix into a paste (the powder should come with a portion scoop). Mix with milk and then add to a glass.

Sip and enjoy!
