The Lavender Graduation is a tradition the University of Idaho LGBTQA Office holds to honor graduates at the end of the year.

Every year, the LGBTQA Office holds a Lavender Graduation ceremony to honor LGBTQA graduates. Similar ceremonies are held across the world in honor of LGBTQA graduates.

Due to social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, the LGTBQA Office has decided to have the celebration online. Students who wish to be a part of it must register beforehand.

The graduates will be recognized in a slideshow that will be posted on the LGBTQA Office’s social media. Each graduate will be recognized with a photo they submit, their major, some of their accomplishments and their favorite quote. The graduates will also receive a rainbow tassel and a certificate.

Julia Keleher, director of the LGBTQA Office, said she will ensure that the graduates receive their tassels and certificates despite them not being able to have the ceremony in person.

To be a part of the celebration, students must fill out a registration form and send a recent photo of themselves to [email protected].

The deadline to register is April 10 at 5 p.m. and the deadline to send all materials to the LGBTQA Office is April 22 at 5 p.m. For more information, email the LGBTQA Office at [email protected].
