Updated: Fifth case of coronavirus confirmed in Idaho

Cases confirmed in Teton and ADA counties

Brianna Bodily, public information officer for South Central Public Health announced the second case of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Blaine County, the fifth case in the state.

The patient is said to be a woman over the age of seventy.  

A case of coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed in Teton County, Health Education Specialist and Public Information Officer for Eastern Idaho Public Health Mimi Taylor, said.

This is the first case in eastern Idaho. Teton County is located near Idaho Falls, on the border of Wyoming.

The woman infected is a resident of Teton County. She is under sixty and has had mild symptoms. She is recovering at home.

The woman had close contact with someone in a neighboring state who has been confirmed with the coronavirus. The neighboring state was not announced to protect her identity.

“We’ve known it’s just a matter until we’ve experienced a case of COVID-19 in our area,” Director of Eastern Idaho Public Health Geri L. Rackow, said.

Another case has also been confirmed in Idaho. This is the second case in ADA County. More information is not known at this time.
