An update on UI’s current dean search

Alison Carr-Chellman, the current dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, has been named the newest dean of the School of Education and Health Sciences at the University of Dayton, according to a news letter from the University of Dayton.

The letter added Carr-Chellman will begin her new position on July 1.

Carr-Chellman joined the University of Idaho in 2016 and has focused on hiring more diverse faculty, growing student and faculty research and raising fundraising, according to the letter.

The University of Dayton is located in Dayton, Ohio and is a private Roman Catholic research university.

UI Director of Communications Jodi Walker said as of right now UI does not know when a search for a new dean will start.

College of Natural Resources

Dennis Becker has been named the dean of the College of Natural Resources (CNR), according to an email from provost and executive vice president, John Wiencek.

Becker has been serving as the interim dean of CNR since 2018.

Becker graduated with a doctoral degree from CNR and joined UI as an associate professor and the director of the Policy Analysis Group in 2015. In 2018 he was promoted to professor.

Becker was the only candidate for CNR, Walker said.

College of  Letters, Art and Social Sciences

Sean Quinlan has been named the dean of the College of Letters, Art and Social Sciences according to an email from UI.

Quinlan started at UI in 2001 in the Department of History. He has been serving as the interim dean of CLASS since 2018.

College of Art & Architecture

UI is currently holding a national search for a new College of Art & Architecture dean. A decision will be made later this semester, Walker said.
