Bite-Sized News: Moscow City Council addresses downtown parking

Moscow-Pullman Regional Airport seeks grants for completion of runway project

Moscow City Council met March 2 for their bi-weekly meeting at City Hall.

Big-ticket items:

  • Downtown parking assessment
    • City Council approved a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a study of the public parking system in downtown. An RFQ is a request for firms to submit their qualifications to be considered for a project.
    • Deputy City Supervisor Bill Belknap said the city included $45,000 in funding during the preparation of the FY2020 budget to hire a consulting firm to assess and provide recommendations related to the utilization of downtown parking.
    • The study will analyze historical documents, on-street and off-street parking, key stakeholders and an assessment of our existing transportation system. The final report will be completed in November 2020.

Small-ticket items:

  • Council pre-authorizes acceptance of potential grant offer
    • The Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport applied for grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program to complete Phase 5 of the Runway Realignment Project and Terminal Design project. The council pre-authorized the acceptance of a grant offer.
    • The amount of the grants is up to $8,000,000 with a local match of $649,600.

Moscow City Council meetings begin at 7 p.m. the first and third Mondays of every month in the City Hall Council Chambers.
