The 2020 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships came to a halt after a water main broke at the University of Houston.

The events were cancelled Thursday evening and after a coaches’ vote, the morning’s preliminary races were scored as timed events according to the Vandal Athletics website.

The University of Houston’s campus will be closed Friday with shortened sessions of certain events.

The WAC will attempt to stream Friday’s events, but spectators will not be allowed in the facility, according to the Vandal Athletics website.

Only student-athletes, coaches, staff and other personnel will be allowed for a single session that begins tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. Central Standard Time.

The 200 freestyle relays and the men’s one-meter and women’s three-meter finals will be the only events tomorrow morning.

The men and women’s platform dive will be rescheduled to Saturday instead of Friday, according to the WAC sports website.

Vandal Nation will follow this story closely with more updates to come.
