UI celebrates Indigenous People’s Day

Today marks the third year of Indigenous People’s Day being a recognized holiday in Moscow instead of Columbus Day.

The change took effect in 2017, after a 5-1 vote by the Moscow City Council, and today the University of Idaho Office of Tribal Relations celebrated, according to an Oct. 2017 Argonaut article.

A discussion was held by UI faculty, staff and students of Native American heritage today in the Idaho Student Union Food Court.

Moscow community continues the celebration

Later in the evening community members gathered in Friendship Square for an event sponsored by the Moscow Human Rights Commission in honor of Indigenous People’s Day.
