Incoming — events in Moscow that will send you off into cloud nine. To sum up the upcoming week: performances, performances and performances. Get ready Moscow, this week is all about getting out and supporting your local artists and performers because the show will always go on. Here are the best events going on this week — all beat staying at home.

Read Out! Against Banned Books | Monday – Friday

  • Time: 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. 
  • Date: Monday – Friday  
  • Place: EHHS Third Floor at Gary Strong Curriculum Center (UI Library)  
  • Price: Free 

The University of Idaho Library and the College of Education Health and Human Sciences started the event. It will run throughout the entire week Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Celebrate your freedom to read with the University.

Tuesday Community Market | Tuesday

  • Time: 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. 
  • Date: Tuesday 
  • Place: Latah County Fair and Event Center 
  • Price: Free Entry  

This Tuesday, the community market will be featuring local bands and vendors selling produce, handmade crafts, food, ale and more. The event is coming to an end soon (ending on Oct. 1) so come support, local artists and vendors, while you can. The event is free, but it cannot be promised you will leave empty-handed.

  • Place: One World Cafe  
  • Price: Free 

One World Cafe is always hosting cool artists from the community and around the Pacific North West. This Wednesday come enjoy North Eastern Brazilian inspired music while sipping a cup of coffee or beer. The event will be free but donations are appreciated. Come to One World for a great time.

Kenworthy Annual Gala | Thursday

  • Place: Kenworthy Performing Centre 
  • Price: $20 General $10 Student and Youth 

Open your ears for an incredible evening with the Washington-Idaho’s Symphony at this year’s Kenworthy Gala. Along with great music, there will be deserts, drinks and impeccable entertainment. It will be a night full of “movie-inspired” music. The Annual Gala is Kenworthy’s biggest fundraiser and all funds through ticket sales, raffles, and donations will go toward the general operating fund for the Kenworthy. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and entertainment will start at 8:00 p.m. During the social hour, there will be a no-host bar, beer and a wine raffle.

  • Time: 6 p.m.– 8 p.m. 
  • Date: Friday 
  • Place: One World Cafe 
  • Price: Free 

This Friday, One World is hosting an open mic night. Come and share your special talent — whether it be comedy, stand up, or something outrageous. Just keep in mind sets are 10 minutes max. Sign up starts at 6:30 p.m. and performances are between 7 – 10 p.m. All ages are welcome and encouraged to strut their stuff.

Modest Music Fest | Saturday – Sunday

  • Time: 8 p.m. and 12 p.m. 
  • Date: Saturday – Sunday 
  • Place: Humble Burger 
  • Price: $30 

Modest Music Fest is back baby! This year, the festival is featuring 40+ different artists from the Pacific North West. Performances start at 8 p.m Saturday and 12 p.m. Sunday. Wristbands are available online for $30, valid for both two days and for all performances. Tickets for Saturday are $10, $15 for Sunday, and $25 for the Kenworthy performance. Venues will include Humble Burger, Bitterroot Tattoo, Book People of Moscow, One World Cafe, Mikey’s Gyros and the Kenworthy. The Kenworthy headline performance features soul music from legend Ural Thomas and Pain. The lineup can be found on the Facebook page. Get into it and experience one of the best weekends for artists and businesses around the Palouse.
