Five-ish things to do in Moscow this week

With many things to do around Moscow, it can be hard picking out which ones to spend your time doing. Along with school and student life, it can be hard to get yourself out there into the Palouse. Here are the best events going on this week — and hopefully a bit of a LIFE Hack into your life.

Today, Wild at Art is hosting a fantastically fun art event at Lodgepole! You can be found painting stemless or stemmed wine glasses for wine connoisseurs as well as pint glasses for beer drinkers. Your glasses will be cured in Wild at Art’s oven that night, ensuring a lovely future drink as soon as that night. Beverages and snacks hosted by Lodgepole will be available as well. The event will be from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. and all ages are welcome!

Is the school’s semester already stressing you out? Is work already becoming more of a burden than expected? Palouse Advocacy League is hosting a calming, guided yoga. In advocacy of World Suicide Prevention Day, the Palouse is very pleased to welcome all to this event. It will be from 4 – 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Reaney Park in Pullman. The event is free and encourages all to go. As a side note, if it is raining then the event will be moved to Yogatopia, 246 E. Main St. Pullman.

Best Scooter Trick | Friday

The inner child inside of all of us is screaming at the fact there is a scooter trick competition Friday at the Moscow Skate Park. Fun to watch or participate, the city of Moscow is trying to see who has the best scooter skills. Will it be you? The event will start at 3:30 pm, so make sure you’re there on time! This event is both fun to watch or participate if you have some tricks up your sleeve. But! To compete, you have to be ages 8 to 16, top scooters in each bracket (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) will win a prize!

We Got your Back 5K | Saturday

  • Time: 10 a.m. to noon
  • Date: Saturday
  • Place Student Rec Center
  • Price: Until Thursday, $7 for UI Students, $12 for non-students and after Thursday $12 for UI Students, $15 for non-students

Support your Vandals this weekend for a 5K run or a 2K walk for the “We Got Your Back” event. As a great way to get active and to support suicide awareness and bystander intervention as a part of UI’s Suicide Awareness Week. The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon but make sure to arrive early to check-in by 9:45 a.m., starting at the Student Rec Center. Early bird registration is available until Thursday with tickets for UI students priced at $7, and after Thursday at $12. The event is hosted and partnered by UI’s Counseling & Testing CenterBeta Theta Pi fraternity, Recreation and Wellbeing, Vandal Health Education and Gritman Medical Center.

MCT-Reads at Mikey’s Gyros | Saturday

  • Time: 5 – 8 p.m.

  • Place Mikey’s Gyros
  • Price: Free

This Saturday, MTC-Reads is presenting classic plays to a new audience. The play will be “Mind Over Matter,” which is a comedy styled after “Second Honeymoon” by Claire G. Stifton, hosted by the Moscow Community Theatre. The table reading will start at 5 p.m. in Mikey’s Gyros backroom.

To end a great week, it is always encouraged to support local craftsmen, bakers, and business owners of the Palouse by going to the Moscow Farmers Market. As always, the event will be on Main St. from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you haven’t gone already, the Moscow Farmers Market is a great scene that has fantastic food and entertainment.


In part of Suicide Awareness Week if you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis UI’s Testing and Counseling Center is available for same-day appointments for students experiencing a crisis. Their hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
