The Vandal Nation staff predicts the Idaho women against Arizona in the WNIT

It is not going to be an easy win by any means, but after an early and unexpected elimination from the Big Sky tournament, this team is on a mission. Fans should not expect this team to fall out of the WNIT before that mission is complete. What is more complete than a tournament title?

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. As of late, it’s felt a little unpredictable as to how this team can handle big time situations, and while Idaho might lose this one they won’t go away quietly.

Momentum is very real in sports, and the Vandals have enough to spare for a win in Thursday’s game. The Wildcats’ offense is not as diverse as Idaho’s many offerings, and Arizona could struggle to secure the crowd backing that Idaho received on Sunday. If the Vandals can overcome Arizona’s significant size advantage by spreading the floor, then Idaho should come away with the win.

With the display that the Vandals were able to put on against Denver, Idaho looks to have regained their stride after an amazing game in Memorial Gym. Idaho will continue to channel this momentum and go to the Elite Eight in a highly competitive game, not decided by the Splash Sisters, but by the rest of the supporting cast.

The Wildcats height will pose a problem for the Vandals as they have struggled against taller players who have the ability to score throughout the season. The home crowd in Tucson will once again prove to be a factor in the game as the Wildcats have yet to leave their home floor during the WNIT tournament. If the Vandals can hang with Arizona in this game, defense will have to be the name of the game.

With Idaho coming off arguably one of the most electric wins of the season, they have a wave of momentum on their side going into Tuscan. The Wildcats pose a definite size advantage in this matchup, but if the Vandals emphasize a presence in the paint, space will open up beyond the arc for the Splash Sisters to do what they do best.
