The Vandals traveled out to Oregon State and NAU to finish the regular season

For their final regular season weekend, the Vandals succeeded and stumbled in Flagstaff and Corvallis.

Idaho swimmers traveled to a meet at Oregon State and lost 159.5-96.5, while the Vandal divers competed against Northern Arizona over the course of two days.

The swimmers experienced a mixed bag of results in the pool. Junior Aimee Iwamoto had the best performance of the day with a wire-to-wire win in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing with a 1:06.39. She also led the first leg of the 200-yard breaststroke, but an illegal turn disqualified her from placing. Iwamoto also finished second in the 100-yard individual medley.

Fellow junior Brianna Lucien finished her campaign on a high note, finishing second in the 400-yard individual medley and third in the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard individual medley.

Seniors Sarah Hall and Leah Fisk ended their final regular seasons with excellent performances that came up just short of the top spot on the podium. Hall finished second in the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:09.39, barely more than a tenth of a second behind the winner. Fisk took second in the 200-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard freestyle. She had won her last five 200-yard freestyle swims, but finished less than two tenths of a second behind the leader with a 1:54.44.

Meanwhile in Flagstaff, the diving contingent excelled thanks in large part to another impressive showing by Janelle Lucas.

The senior dominated on the platform as she so often has over her four-year career, tallying a score of 259.0. The score is good for seventh-best in program history and Lucas owns the four best scores. Lucas — a three-time WAC champion — will aim for a career sweep in the event at the WAC Championships.

The Vandals also succeeded on the springboards, with redshirt senior Nikki Imanaka taking second in the 3-meter and fifth in the 1-meter competitions.

Up next, the Vandals will partake in the WAC Swimming and Diving Championships from Feb. 27-March 2 in Houston.
