Involvement opportunities across campus

Game Day T-Shirt contest opens

 University of Idaho Student Alumni relations board invites students, alumni, fans and supporters to leave their mark on Vandal Game day with the Vandal Game Day t-shirt design contest.

Designs must be limited to three colors and include the text “Vandal Game Day,” and be compatible with front of shirt placement.

The winning entry will be selected as the official game day t-shirt design for the upcoming year.

Entries must be submitted to SArb by 5 p.m. on Feb 27.

Biological science seminar

 Jono Henshaw, a post-doc in the Jones Lab will be presenting research on “Sexual selection and the evolution of sex roles.”

Research at Jones Lab focuses on the umbrella of evolutionary biology, including the study of sexual selection from empirical and theoretical perspectives.

Henshaw is due to deliver their presentation at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1 in Life Sciences South room 227.

Dress for success shopping day

 UI Greek Life and Career Services are sponsoring a JCPenney Dress for Success Shopping Day in preparation for the Spring Career Fair.

Transportation is included for the trip to Lewiston, and attendees will receive 30 percent off the lowest marked price for items in store.

The first 40 people to register for the event will receive JCPenney gift cards. Those who wish to attend should register via Handshake.

Registration open for Valentine Day cookie decorating class

The Margaret Ritchie School of Family and Consumer Sciences will host an evening cookie decorating class at 6 p.m. on Feb. 6 and 7 in the Carmelita Spencer Foods Lab.

The class is three hours long, and participants will learn how to make 10 sugar cookies that hold their shape and icing with perfect consistency. Step by step instructions will be provided, and an instructor will demonstrate icing techniques.

Cost for the class is $25 for UI students and $50 for general registration. Participants can choose one of the two upcoming dates, registration is required for the event, with limited space available.

Registration is available through Eventbrite.

Summer undergrad research grant applications open

 The Office of Undergraduate Research invites students from all disciplines to apply to the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF.)

The SURF program is a 10-week program from June to August that gives students the opportunity to work full-time on faculty-mentored projects in any field of study.

Each award includes a $4,000 student fellowship in addition to $1,000 in research funds. Fellows will also have the opportunity to attend academic and professional development workshops throughout the summer.

More information is available through the Office of Undergraduate Research. Application materials must be submitted by March 25.
