UI to host general education forum

UI to host general education open forum Friday to discuss "next steps for resourcing and general education"

The University of Idaho will host a general education forum Friday in the Idaho Commons Clearwater/Whitewater rooms to discuss multiple challenges facing the university.

According to an email sent earlier this month to students, faculty and staff of the university by Cher Hendricks, the Vice Provost of Academic Initiatives, the forum will be focused on the “next steps for resourcing and general education” as the university “works through budget challenges within academic departments.”

The forum was originally planned for Jan. 25, but was postponed until the first of February due to illness.

The email also states the university has important, long-term goals for general education that will require broad participation among UI students, faculty and staff members.

“Our primary goal is to better integrate general education courses into majors,” Henricks said in the email. “And help students understand the value of general education courses.”
