Vandal women’s golf tie for 13th at Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate

Idaho Played in the Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate this weekend in Highlands Ranch, Colorado where they finished tied for 13th overall.

In the first round, the Vandals finished in 13th place overall shooting an 18-over 306.

Senior Sophie Hausmann shot Idaho’s lowest score at three-over 75. Right behind her was senior Michelle Kim, sophomore Valeria Patino, and freshman Vicky Tsai all carding a five-over 77.

The second round, the Vandals shot another 18-over with a 306. which kept them in 13th place after the second round.

Hausmann and Kim both shot a three-over 75 in the second round and they were followed closely by Patino who carded another five-over 77. Freshman Eddie Hsu carded a seven-over 79 to bring up the last Vandal score out of five golfers.

The Vandals brought it back in the third round shooting just 10-over 298 which left them tied for 13th place overall for the tournament.

Hausmann was the Vandal’s low scorer with a seven-over 223 (75-75-73) which secured her a top 25 finish as she tied for 24th individually.

Kim carded the lowest score for the Vandals all weekend with a final round even 72. She finished individually tied for 30th and hit an eight-over 224 (77-75-72).

Patino improved by one stroke during her final round finishing with a 14-over 230 (77-77-76).

Hsu finished carding a 24-over 240 (78-79-83) and right behind her was Freshman Vicky Tsai who carded a 25-over 241 (77-87-77).

Idaho finished tied with Central Arkansas 13th place with shooting 46-over (306-306-298).

All five of the Idaho golfers had counting scores for the weekend. Head coach Lisa Johnson said “We played poorly this week. Ultimately it all came down to putting and we struggled getting the ball in the hole.”

The Vandals are back on the course again in two weeks on October 21 through 23 at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. This is the final tournament of their fall schedule.
