Linehan to Minnesota

For the last four years, Idaho quarterback Matt Linehan has been a leader for the Vandal squad and now plans to make his name known in the NFL as part of the Minnesota Vikings rookie camp.

Linehan has been invited to the Minnesota Vikings rookie camp to showcase his skills and fight for a shot on the NFL squad.

Linehan will be competing for a spot on a team that was one win away from the Super Bowl last year and has the talent to make another run.

If Linehan does make the squad, he will have the chance to learn behind one of the strongest quarterbacks in the game, Kirk Cousins.

Linehan had a great career at the University of Idaho, completing 61 percent of his passes throughout his career and throwing 62 touchdowns in the process. The highlight of his run would come in winning the Idaho Potato Bowl MVP award in Idaho’s win against Colorado State during the 2016-2017 season.

Idaho fans will be proud to see the silver and gold being represented in Minnesota.

Lashley transfers to Boise State

Idaho’s defense plans to make some noise this coming season entering FCS play but will now have to adapt without one of their star linebackers.

Senior linebacker Tony Lashley will transfer and take his talents to Boise State. According to sources from both schools, Lashley will transfer to Boise State this summer as a graduate, allowing the linebacker to play in the fall.

This is an addition for Boise State as it tries to replace linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, recently drafted by the Dallas Cowboys.

For the Vandals, this is a devastating hit to the team losing the former first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection. Lashley led all Vandals last season with 123 tackles and tied for second with 14 tackles for loss.

Players will have to try to fill the production value that Lashley brought every game. Projected as one of the best Big Sky linebackers this coming season, Lashley will now compete in a competitive Mountain West Conference.

Team Gold dominates in Spring Game

Spring ball came to a close on Friday with the annual Silver and Gold Spring game ending in a 55-19 victory for the Gold.

The big winners on Friday were redshirt freshman Roshaun Johnson and senior linebacker Kaden Elliss.

Johnson rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns, while Elliss made big plays on both sides of the ball.

Things got underway with junior quarterback Mason Petrino finding Elliss for back to back gains of 30 and 10 yards. Petrino finished the first drive with a one-yard touchdown carry, his first of two on the night.

Elliss continued to dominate on the offensive side of the ball for the rest of the quarter, with sophomore quarterback Colton Richardson finding Elliss for an 80-yard touchdown.

Team Silver cut the deficit to 35-12 by halftime, but team gold proved to be too much Friday.

A lot of highlights all around for the Vandals throughout the spring which may prove for some exciting football come fall in the Big Sky.
