The University of Idaho announced Tuesday Dean Kurt Pregitzer, dean of the College of Natural Resources (CNR), will be retiring Aug. 31.
Pregitzer has been the dean of CNR for the past eight years. The university announced the news via an email sent by Provost and Executive Vice President John Wiencek. In the email, Wiencek said Pregitzer and CNR faculty and staff have grown enrollment, expanded the research portfolio and made industry relationships.
Wiencek said Pregitzer plans to spend the summer finishing research in Michigan. Pregitzer has published more than 225 scientific papers, spanning a variety of topics in forest ecology.
Wiencek said CNR is now ranked number one in the country in terms of quality and affordability, which he attributes to Pregitzer.
