As college students who spend almost every penny we make on tuition and fees, going out to a fancy restaurant is definitely not a high priority. However, if you do find yourself with spending money, Black Cypress in Pullman is the place to go.

Black Cypress is located at 215 East Main Street and the kitchen is open Monday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the bar is open Monday through Saturday 5 p.m. to late.

This is a great restaurant to take your special someone or to go for a formal dinner. You can make a reservation if you do not want to risk the wait. However, when I went there was no wait and I didn’t make a reservation.

As soon as you walk through the doors you find yourself in a rustic but modern restaurant with an extremely formal feel. Couple that with the great customer service and fantastic food and you get one of the best restaurants in the area.

Not only was the staff extremely nice to the customers – they are also well trained. When the waiters are not taking your order, they try to attract as little attention as possible as to not annoy the customers. Often you don’t even notice them fill your glass of water right in front of you.

After taking our order our waitress left, and after only 10 minutes the food was on the table. The food was excellent, from the first bite to the last, and was so filling we had to get to-go boxes. Depending on what you order the prices can get into the $20 range, but for a filling Kima (fancy spaghetti) you will pay $14.

Black Cypress is perfect for those special occasions. I highly recommend that you make the drive and give this restaurant a try. I will definitely be making more trips there in the future.
