Staff Predictions: Idaho vs Georgia Southern

Georgia Southern 42, Idaho 34

Idaho went down South and played Georgia Southern tough for three quarters last season. Now the Eagles, who are arguably the best team in the conference, come to Moscow hoping to keep their perfect Sun Belt record in tact — they went 8-0 in their first season in the conference last year. Idaho plays GSU tough once again, but it wont be enough in the end.

 

 

 

Georgia Southern 56, Idaho 35

Idaho will put up points but the Georgia Southern rushing attack will be too much to handle for the Idaho defense. Idaho sophomore quarterback Matt Linehan will continue his passing efficiency and senior receiver Dezmon Epps will rack up a lot of catches and yards. But it won’t be enough.

 

 

 

 

Idaho 41, Georgia Southern 35

The Vandals are eager to start a winning streak for the fans this season. I believe senior wide receiver Dezmon Epps has over 200 receiving yards and sophomore kicker/punter Austin Rehkow goes 3-for-3 from field goal range. Strong defense from the Vandals will come alive in the second half to seal the victory.

 

 

 

Georgia Southern 37, Idaho 10

Georgia Southern scored six touchdowns and had an interception returned for a score in last year’s game against Idaho, and I don’t think this year will be any different. The Eagles will win their first game in the Kibbie Dome 37-10 to move to 3-1. Idaho junior kicker/punter Austin Rehkow will make a field goal to stay perfect on the season.

 

 

 

Georgia Southern 48, Idaho 14

If Idaho couldn’t stop the Wofford rushing attack, what makes anyone think they can stop Georgia Southern’s? Western Michigan couldn’t and that was while the Eagles’ star quarterback Kevin Ellison was still suspended. This will be a cakewalk for Georgia Southern. But considering where Idaho already stands, going up against the best team in the Sun Belt Conference and getting blown out is nothing to be ashamed of.

 

 

Georgia Southern 45, Idaho 27

The Vandals are riding high following a thrilling victory last weekend, but their next opponent represents one of the power teams in the Sun Belt Conference. Georgia Southern is known for its bruising running game, an offensive attack that Idaho struggles to defend. I expect Georgia Southern to strike early and come away with a convincing victory.

 

 

 

Georgia Southern 42, Idaho 21

Despite the Vandals’ defense showing up at the end of the game against Wofford, I don’t think this will be an easy game for Idaho. As a result, Georgia Southern will win the game convincingly. I’m not too worried about Idaho’s offense this weekend but it will still be a relatively long night for the Vandals.
