Cheap food is one of the most important things for college students, which is why we enjoy free food. This recipe can be made from random things around the house. Instead of macaroni, use spaghetti noodles. It’s versatile and cheap to make during the weeks in between paychecks.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 6 strips of bacon — cooked and crumbled
  • 2 cans of cream of chicken soup
  • 2 cups shredded Monterrey Jack cheese
  • 1 box (16 ounces) dried macaroni
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Cook and crumble bacon
  2. While bacon is cooking, cut chicken into bite-sized chunks
  3. Set cooked bacon aside for later use
  4. In the same pan, cook chicken in bacon drippings
  5. Add garlic powder and salt and pepper to taste
  6. While chicken is cooking, prepare pasta according to directions
  7. Spray a 9 x 13 baking pan with nonstick cooking spray
  8. Drain pasta, return to pot
  9. Add chicken, both cans of cream of chicken soup and 1 cup of Monterrey Jack cheese — stir to mix well
  10. Pour into prepared baking dish
  11. Top with crumbled bacon
  12. Top with remaining cup of Monterrey Jack cheese
  13. Bake at 400 for about 20 minutes, until cheese is melted and beginning to brown on top

mmm this looks like perfect comfort food. I like how you encourage people to kind of make it work for them- sometimes I get caught up trying to exactly duplicate a recipe. xoxo K http://peeledwellness.com
