Soccer: Hornets 4 – Vandals 2

With a three goal performance by junior forward Kristin Bridges Sacramento State flew past Idaho 4-2 on their senior night.

Idaho jumped out to an early 2-0 lead off Alyssa Pease and Chloe Bell goals in the first half but just before the half the game was tied by back-to-back goals by Bridges. She scored a third late in the second half to give Sacramento State the lead. They iced the game with under a minute remaining when freshmen forward Adaurie Dayak iced it.

The loss dropped Idaho to 4-12-2 overall, 4-2-2 Big Sky on the season. However with Portland State (7-5, 4-2-2) being idle on Friday they still remain tied for second place heading into the Vandals’ conference finale on Sunday.

The Hornets currently sit tied for fouth place with Eastern Washington (7-7, 4-4) and Northern Arizona (7-5-4, 3-2-3). The finish up conference play next Friday when they face Portland State.

Bridges led all players in shots with seven total, including the three on goal shots that all made it past Idaho’s sophomore goal keeper Torrell Stewart.

Despite this however Stewart had a solid outing recording four saves, bringing her season total to 97, in 18 games.
