Get what you want, need this holiday–Online wishlists offer friends, family opportunity to get it right

Putting a sticky note of holiday desires on your parents’ fridge is a thing of the past. Sharing your wishlist online gives the opportunity for not only your parents, but your friends and extended family members to know exactly what you want this season.
So no more unwrapping pairs of scratchy wool socks or CDs you’ve had for six months. Let’s be honest; we love gifts. We just like the right ones.
Make a personalized Pinterest board:
Pinterest is not just for cute pictures of puppies, delectable desserts and street fashion. The site allows you to create boards to house “pins” of any sort. Using outside links, or pins found on Pinterest itself, you can post pictures and descriptions of desired items on a new board titled something like: Holiday Wishlist 2012. Make sure the outside link takes friends and family to a place where the item can actually be purchased and also ensure your description gives them enough information to get the right gift i.e. Macy’s fleece jacket in black, size medium.
Make a Wishpot wishlist:
This free online service, made especially for holiday wishlists, allows users to add desires from any store or website. Once a list is compiled, a permalink can be shared with friends and family. The list shows a small picture of the item, a description, the level of desire i.e. I’d like it, I need it, I want it, and even the price tag.
Once someone purchases an item from the list, the item is removed without the Wishpot user’s knowledge. That’s right — no double-ups this year.
Make a wishlist for really specific things on really specific sites:
If you love Victoria’s Secret clothes or you enjoy shopping on Ebay, almost every company site offers their own personalized wishlist. Sometimes, companies offer discounts or rewards for making personalized wishlists too.
Once created, wishlist links can be shared on Facebook or in an email. The size, color and type of each desired item can be specified and if friends and family feel lazy, at least they’ll know where you could use a gift card.
