The reality of success

Life is tough and that’s the truth — it’s not a bed of roses and nothing comes easy. Most people want to be rich, famous and successful but reality is a bitter pill to swallow. Not everybody will be rich or famous but anyone can be successful.
On thefreedictionary.com, success is defined as “the achievement of something desired, planned or attempted.” There are different definitions of success, but what most people forget to include in their definition is feeling fulfilled and content in their achievements. A lot of people set goals and aim high in life, and even when they achieve these goals they remain unhappy and unfulfilled. Wealth cannot buy happiness and neither can fame.
In life you need to set goals that you can meet and desires you want to fulfill, but not all your dreams will come true. If you have plans that fail and you fall, be determined and get back up again because this is the way life should be. Failure does not mean you will be unsuccessful forever. Failure is a chance to become successful because you have gained more experience and hopefully learned from your mistakes.
When you do achieve one of your goals, give yourself time to appreciate your hard work and congratulate yourself on a job well done. Finishing a project and moving straight on to the next one without reflecting on the effort you put into the just completed project and the positive outcome can be draining. Forget about the list of things you have to do and give yourself a moment to revel in your success. Reflecting on your accomplishments will give you energy to accomplish your next goal.
You might never be rich or blinded by flashing lights from the cameras of paparazzi, and your name may never appear anywhere on the Internet other than Facebook. But you can learn to feel fulfilled and content whenever you accomplish personal goals or dreams because at the end of the day it’s your happiness that matters.
