Sigma Alpha Epsilon applies to return to UI sooner
Two years after having its chapter revoked, fraternity alumni hope to return to campus

Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) fraternity lost its charter in March 2018 amid allegations of hazing and an investigation by the fraternity’s national organization. The original closure agreement between UI and SAE’s national organization stated the fraternity could repopulate the house starting Aug. 15, 2022. Local alumni are hoping to make that happen by Spring 2021.

Lately, I have been spending most of my time indoors, staring at the same four, white walls of my dorm room. Being stuck indoors without socializing is tiring. I’m sure I’m not the only one itching for something to do at this point either. Homework and working for the Argonaut takes up a good portion of my time outside of work and classes.

On Aug. 19, an incident at the University of Idaho Beta Theta Pi (BTP) fraternity caused 22 new members of the fraternity to move from Greek housing to on-campus student housing.
