The Seattle Seahawks are going to Super Bowl LX and no one saw it coming. With a completely different looking roster from last year, they are on track to have one of the biggest turnarounds in Seahawks history.
The last Super Bowl appearance the Seahawks had was against the New England Patriots, which happens to be the team they will face off against this year. In the previous Super Bowl, the Patriots had Tom Brady, who led them to win after Russell Wilson threw an interception on the 1-yard line. This is a rough topic for Seahawks fans; the Hawks have a great opportunity to redeem themselves.
The Seattle Seahawks are 14-3 this year and received a first-round bye into the playoffs. The last time they had 14 wins, they won the Super Bowl in 2014.
Head coach Mike Macdonald is the start of the huge turnaround for the Seahawks. Hired in January of 2024, he was a huge reason they have such an unstoppable defense this year. His mindset from the beginning has been to combine veterans and new players to create an inseparable environment for players to thrive in.
Star Player Jaxon Smith-Njigba has had a historic season in 2025-26 including receiving AP offensive player of the year. This didn’t just come out of nowhere. Breaking the single season receiving record with 1,793 receiving yards, this all stems from Smith-Njigba’s insanely skilled route running and awareness. Some could argue that he is the best player in the entire league.
A team cannot have a successful receiver without a good quarterback, and that person is Sam Darnold. Coming off a 14-win season at Minnesota, all Seahawks fans were very stoked to get him after letting go of Geno Smith. Darnold has a very strong connection with Smith-Njigba, with multiple deep touchdowns during the season.
A huge factor for the Seahawks having such a strong season is their ability to win close games. The first game that comes to mind is when they made a 16-point comeback against the Los Angeles Rams,forcing the game into overtime and taking the win. Just three short games away from an undefeated season, they have one of the best teams the league has seen in a while.
After the loss of DK Metcalf, Seahawks fans were very disappointed. This was the face of the franchise, and fans didn’t know what to do. What they didn’t know is that the best receiver the league has seen in years was on the horizon.
All these factors have led to the undeniable dominance that Seahawks fans have been waiting for ever since the legion of doom and Pete Carrol. Looking past the Super Bowl, the Seahawks will be a team that is on everyone’s radar from now on.
