The ASUI Senate legislative ambassador trip was introduced by ASUI President Seyi Arogundade and ASUI Vice President Bryant Sitts during the senate meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 27.

This trip will occur Jan. 25-27 and will allow for ASUI senators and members of the student body to interact with Idaho State senators and representatives.  A total of 15 students have been selected for the trip, and including ASUI senators, the ASUI director and students active in the ASUI community.

Students will spend the early part of next week at the state capital, Boise, where they can interact with legislators about topics concerning the university and their own personal interests.

“It should be an exhilarating time to meet with the governor, as well as other big names in government,” Sitts said.

Arogundade, Sitts and the new finance director, Zac Knapp, said that they had received communication from university administration about yearly finance numbers.

“We got some concrete numbers for you all, so hopefully that makes [the] funding board a bit smoother this semester,” Arogundade said.

Processing club funding requests was a major part of ASUI’s legislative activities last semester.

ASUI is currently hiring for three positions: director of athletics, director of academic affairs and senate adjutant. Students interested in applying can do so through ASUI’s link-tree available through their Instagram.

ASUI is UI student government which seeks to represent the student body at a school and state level. The senate handles initiatives on club funding, campus sustainability and political support or condemnation of current events. Meetings are open to the public and occur on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in the Clearwater-Whitewater room in the ISUB.
