The Idaho Vandals (11-7, 3-2) continued their strong conference start on Saturday night, knocking off Weber State 75-67 at the Dee Events Center in Ogden, Utah, behind a balanced scoring effort and a dominant first half. The win marked Idaho’s second straight season with a road victory against Weber State, something the program had not accomplished since the 1987-88 and 1988-89 seasons.

Idaho set the tone early and built a 41-29 halftime lead while shooting an efficient 51.9% from the field in the opening 20 minutes. The Vandals finished the night shooting 45.5% overall, compared to just 30.4% for the Wildcats. Though Weber State pulled within one point late in the second half and outrebounded Idaho 44-37, the Vandals never trailed en route to their third win in Big Sky play.

Senior guard Biko Johnson led all scorers with a season-high 26 points, continuing a strong 2025-26 campaign. Johnson added six rebounds and two assists, recording his 12th double-figure scoring performance of the season and his fifth game with at least 20 points. Redshirt sophomore guard Kolton Mitchell scored 12 points, nine of which came in the second half. Freshman forward Jackson Rasmussen scored 16 points with five rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

The Wildcats missed each of their first nine shots over the opening five minutes, allowing Idaho to seize control with a 10-0 run to open the contest.

Idaho eventually pushed the lead to as many as 19 points in the first half. Johnson was the driving force early, scoring 11 of Idaho’s first 27 points.

Early in the second half, Weber State rattled off an 11-0 run to pull within four. The Wildcats’ surge eventually cut the Idaho lead to just one point.

Over the final 6:44, the Vandals outscored Weber State 17-10, leaning heavily on Johnson and Mitchell to close out the win. The duo combined for 19 of Idaho’s final 26 points. Their ability to deliver in key moments helped Idaho withstand Weber State’s late push and secure an impressive conference victory on the road.

Mitchell’s performance also continued a notable individual streak. The sophomore guard has now scored in double figures in eight consecutive games, the longest such run by a Vandal since Isaac Jones’ nine-game streak in January and February of 2023. During that eight-game stretch, Mitchell averaged 18.5 points per contest while shooting 42.2% from the field.

Despite Rasmussen committing six turnovers, the freshman’s overall impact was undeniable. His 16 points, as well as his defensive performance, helped Idaho generate transition opportunities, an area where both teams found success. Each side scored 20 or more points off turnovers, turning miscues into fast-break chances throughout the night.

Ultimately, Idaho’s early dominance and late-game execution proved too much for Weber State to overcome. The Vandals have two home games this week, starting with a Thursday night showdown on Jan. 22with Sacramento State at 6 p.m.
