The 14-9 Weber State Wildcats marched into Moscow to take down the 5-18 Idaho Vandals volleyball team in a 3-0 sweep. Although it was a sweep, the Vandals kept it competitive, showing that they wouldn’t go down without a fight. The three sets were each within five points and were competitive throughout. The Vandals could have a promising future with some young stars playing well.

Freshman Kiana Greer had a great game with nine kills, one block and 16 digs. Greer had many impressive plays that kept the game close at times.

“It’s great obviously, she’s playing this level as a freshman,” assistant coach Ben Kasun said. “We know we’re going to get that out of her every game.”

Greer has been one of the best players for the Vandals all season and is a solid foundation for the future to come. She isn’t the only one, though, as freshman Gabi Smith had six kills while freshman Csenge Krakoczki had 17 assists.

Kasun was thrilled with the performance of some of the young players, especially Smith.

“Gabi Smith played great today. … That was awesome to see her step up into that role as well. So, really happy about her and I’m excited to see her continue to grow,” Kasun said.

The Vandals have a promising future ahead of them. The team will want to take their competitiveness from this game onto the next.

The Vandals play at home on Saturday, Nov. 8, at noon against 8-15 Idaho State, who beat Weber State earlier in the season. The last time Idaho played Idaho State was earlier this season, where theBengals won 3-1.
