Every semester, the Student Alumni Relations Board hosts a Parent and Family Weekend at the University of Idaho for all students and their families to celebrate. SARB sets up a variety of activities, allowing families to come together and celebrate the experiences that come with the university and the Moscow community.
Men’s Basketball Game vs. Whitman College (Friday, Nov. 7)
At 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, the Vandal men’s basketball team will play against Whitman College in the ICCU Arena. Friendship Bracelet Making (Saturday, Nov. 8)
Students and parents can come together with SARB to create memories in the form of friendship bracelets on Saturday, Nov. 8. This event will take place in the International Ballroom of the Pitman Center at 9:30 a.m.
Annual Parents and Family Weekend Cornhole Tournament (Saturday, Nov. 8)
The annual Cornhole Tournament will take place on the Theophilus Tower Lawn on Saturday at 11 a.m. The cost to participate is $15 per team.
Official Vandal Tailgate (Saturday, Nov. 8)
The official Vandal Tailgate before the football game against University of California, Davis, will begin at 2 p.m. in the ICCU Arena Plaza. The event will feature food from local vendors, a visit from the Vandal football team, giveaways, games and performances by the Sound of Idaho, Vandal Marching Band and the Spirit Squad.
Joe Vandal Statue Unveiling (Saturday, Nov. 8)
The 2,000-pound bronze statue of Joe Vandal will be unveiled at 2:30 p.m. during the Vandal Tailgate. The statue, which will be located on the west side of the ICCU Arena and the P1FCU Kibbie Dome, is dedicated to the work of ASUI. The sculpture was created by artist Gareth Curtiss, who will speak at the event with UI President Scott Green and ASUI President Seyi Arogundade.
Football Game vs. UC Davis (Saturday, Nov. 8)
At 4 p.m. in the Kibbie Dome, UI’s football team will face off against the University of California, Davis. Students are welcome to bring their parents to fill the stands. Energy and spirit will be brought by the Vandal Marching Band and Spirit Squad, who will also be putting on a pre-game show and a halftime show. Tickets are free for UI students, $33-38 for adults and $13 for youth. Ultimate Mini-Golf Challenge (Friday-Sunday, Nov. 7-9)
From 10 a.m.-8 p.m., ultimate mini-golf challenges will be available at the Airway Hills Golf Center at 4811 Airport Rd., Pullman, Washington. It costs $15 for one round and $25 for all-day access. No tee time is required. It is an 18-hole course and food will be available for purchase at the snack bar.
Golf Simulator Family Fun Days (Friday-Sunday, Nov. 7-9)
The Golf Simulator Family Fun Days event will take place Friday-Sunday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Airway Hills Golf Center. The Airway Hills Golf Center not only offers simulators for golf, but for other sports like soccer and football as well. It is $50 per simulator, and pre-payment is required. “Pippin”: The Musical (Friday-Sunday, Nov. 7-9)
The UI Department of Theatre Arts will host the musical “Pippin” at the Hartung Theatre. Showtimes start at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. In an interview with The Argonaut, director Jess Hirsh described the story of “Pippin” as “a group of players putting on the story of Pippin, his life and times, which is the story of a young man trying to figure out what to do with his life.” As Pippin goes on this journey of life, he discovers that true happiness comes from everyday experiences, not living an over-the-top life. Tickets are free for UI students, $26 for general admission, $6 for kids 18 and younger, $16 for seniors (55+) and military and $21 for UI employees and alumni.
