City Council Candidate Profile: Ben Stellmon highlights the importance of listening to the public in the Moscow City Council race

Ben Stellmon

Ben Stellmon is running for Moscow City Council to listen and connect with the people of Moscow.

Stellmon has lived in Moscow for 20 years and is a nurse supervisor at Pullman Regional Hospital. He received his nursing degree from Lewis-Clark State College and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Idaho.

Stellmon wants to serve the community and be a voice for people.

“I can’t really pick one thing that bothers me about Moscow, so my hope is to listen to the people who live here and see if I can fix things that bother them,” Stellmon said.

Stellmon said his wife Jade Stellmon inspired him to run for city council. Jade Stellmon is the vice chair of the Moscow Charter School Board of Directors.

“The fact that she has that attitude to give back to the place we live in pushed me to do something in that vein as well,” Stellmon said in an interview with The Argonaut.

Stellmon said his nurse management position gave him leadership experience — listening, prioritizing needs and problem-solving — that can also be applied to becoming a city councilman.

Stellmon also said he has been enjoying a hands-on approach to campaigning, meeting and talking to the residents of Moscow.

“I see them on the street and I recognize them and we wave. It has been super cool getting to know more people,” Stellmon said.

“Nurses for the most part are self-sufficient, but I get to help, which is why I got into nursing,” Stellmon said.

Stellmon is one of eight candidates running for three open seats on the Moscow City Council in the November 2025 election. City council terms are four years.
