The Idaho Vandals men’s golf team put their win streak on the line on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Oregon State Invite at Illahe Hills Country Club in Salem, Oregon. Coming off back-to-back record setting tournaments, the Vandals still did well, securing fourth place with a total of 13-over, 12 more than the top finishing Boise State team.
Two players tied for 13 with a score of 2-over. Seniors Joe Sykes and Josh McCartain both earned this spot. McCartain went 2-over in all rounds except the second, where he went two-under; Sykes did well in the first and third rounds but went 3-over in the second round.
Senior Sam Johnson tied for 35 with a score of 7-over and sophomore Charley Simpson tied for 44 with a score of 9-over. Graduate Dalton Dean played in the no. 3 spot for the Vandals and finished by tying for 65 with a score of 15-over.
Last time the Vandals played at the Oregon State Invitational, they placed 10th with a score of 20-over, so it is safe to say that there has been improvement since last season. This is the Vandals’ last tournament until Feb. 15 at the Loyola Intercollegiate, where the Vandals will play in Goodyear, Arizona, at the Palm Valley Golf Club.

There are still seven tournaments left on the schedule for the Vandal men’s golf team, which all pick up in the spring and span across three months.
The Vandals have had an impressive year so far in the fall and look to carry it into the spring season and bring home a Big Sky championship to Moscow.
