Halloween is just around the corner and will be here before you know it! This can only mean one thing: it’s time to carve pumpkins.
On Thursday, Oct. 16, the International Programs Office and the Department of Student Involvement held a pumpkin carving party in the ASUI student lounge. This was a fun event for students to meet new people and carve pumpkins to take home with them.

Students were encouraged to sign up ahead of time to ensure they received a pumpkin.
The turnout was so large this year that more tables had to be added to the room. Upon entering the event, there were many pumpkins of all shapes and sizes to choose from.

Students were able to choose from multiple designs to carve into the pumpkin or even freestyle their art. While most people created the classic jack-o’-lantern face, others took it a step further, carving bats, cats or even dragons.
The event got messy fast with pumpkin guts, seeds and goo torn from every pumpkin. IPO and DSI served apple cider and played spooky music to get attendees into the Halloween spirit.

If you didn’t make it to this event, keep an eye out for other events happening in October, including Wicked Wednesdays at the Kenworthy Theater, where University of Idaho Journalism and Mass Media students play a scary movie every Wednesday of October.
