Prepare for a highly anticipated celebration of the culture and diversity of Africa – the University of Idaho’s African Students Association will be hosting Africa Night on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 5-7 p.m. in the International Ballroom of the Pitman Center.

The ASA has been working hard to plan and prepare for their annual event, Africa Night.

Africa Night is a wonderful opportunity to experience and engage in the rich culture that Africa holds.

Members of the ASA will showcase their culture in many different ways, such as music and food. Some highlights of the event will include the cuisine, dance performances, poetry recitals, games, an open dance floor and more.

This event is open to all students and staff at UI and members of the Moscow community. Tickets are $15 for students and $20 for general admission.

Tickets can be purchased at https://account.venmo.com/u/lordlistowell or by contacting [email protected]

The planning process for this event began one year ago with the reservation of the venue. Following this, the ASA began to plan their advertising and other aspects of the event, such as what performances to feature, the food and the activities.

“It involved a collaborative effort from both the planning committee and the members,” ASA member Kwasi Asare Agyemang wrote in an email.

The theme of this year’s Africa Night is “Wazobia,” which means, “I am because we are.”

“We are giving you a state of the African culture within just two hours,” Agyemang wrote, “and it’s just going to be amazing.”
