A free “Better Together Dinner” by the Moscow Human Rights Commission and Latah County Human Rights Task Force is open to University of Idaho students Monday Sept. 29 from 6-8 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Institute of Religion adjacent to campus.
Food will be catered from Happy Hog Meatery located in Moscow, with a listed menu of smoked pulled chicken, barbecue tofu, pasta salad and coleslaw and is first-come-first-served.
The event’s stated purpose is to connect students to resources and support networks in Moscow, according to a City of Moscow press release. The press release also states that despite the location, the event is not affiliated with any specific religious groups.
The MHRC is one of the Moscow government’s 13 city commissions, a list which also includes the Fair & Affordable Housing Commission and Moscow Arts Commission. MHRC is made up of 11 voting members, including at least one college student and meets monthly.

MHRC’s mission, according to their website, is to “eliminate discrimination, improve human relations and effectuate the spirit and intent of applicable human rights legislation.”
According to the LCHRTF website, the organization works to “strengthen the bonds of community to embrace diversity and reject bigotry.” LCHRTF recently hosted the Great Moscow Food Drive in August and regularly tables at the Moscow Farmers Market.
