Campus Currents | Riley Helal

Happy Monday, Vandals! As the semester progresses, campus is starting to come alive with more fun and exciting events to attend. If you have some free time this week, here are some cool events planned that you could check out.

Poetry Reading and Q&A by Andrew Grace (Monday, Sept. 15)

Andrew Grace will read from his newest collection of poetry, titled “A Brief History of the Midwest,” and attendees can engage in a small Q&A afterwards. It will be held in the 1912 Center’s LeCompte Auditorium from 7-8 p.m. This event is the first of three planned literary readings for the fall. Hosted by the Creative Writing Program’s Visiting Writers Series, all events will be free to attend and open to all.

Renfrew Colloquium (Tuesday, Sept. 16)

The weekly Renfrew Colloquium will be held in the University of Idaho Library’s first floor from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Titled, “Burn It All Down- The Feminist Imagination in 20th Century Dragon Riding Fiction,” the speaker will be Rebecca Scofield. This event is free and open to the public.

Vandal Compass Fair (Tuesday, Sept. 16)

This event will be held in the ISUB Clearwater room from 3:30-5 p.m. and is open to all UI students. This resource fair is held to aid Vandals in discovering programs, services and various opportunities that will help them thrive in their first year at UI, but it can also be a useful event for upperclassmen. Students who attend will be entered into a drawing for a $300 scholarship.

Learn @ the MILL (Thursday, Sept. 18)

Head over to the MILL in the UI Library from 2:30-3:30 p.m. to participate in their weekly event, “Learn @ the MILL.” This week’s event will be learning how to use the Kamigami Bug Bots for fun and friendly battles with your friends. Up to four people can battle at a time. This event is open to all UI students.

Visceral Movement Theory (Sunday, Sept. 21)

Join Samuel Hobbs, artistic director of push/FOLD dance company, and the UI Dance Program for an open class that will introduce dancers of all skillsets to the foundations of Visceral Movement Theory. This will be held in the Physical Education Building, room 110 from 4-6 p.m.
