India Night is back after two years of absence, hosted by the Indian Student Association. It will occur on Sunday, April 6, from 6-8 p.m. at the International Ballroom in the Pitman Center. Tickets are $16 for students and $20 for general admission, with free admission for children under the age of 5.
Many different traditions and performances will be showcased, as it is the University of Idaho’s biggest Indian cultural event. The night will be filled with dances, food, games and even a speech by Dean of Students Blaine Eckles. It is also a great opportunity to connect with others who share similar interests and practices.
“Last semester we had Diwali Night, Diwali’s Hindu festival, so I met a lot of new people,” Vaishnavi Pandey, a freshman and Vice President of the Indian Student Association, said. “I got to know a lot of Indian communities and people who were interested in knowing about India, so the same goes for this event. Because it’s going to be a much bigger event, I am looking forward to meeting new people and telling them more about India, as well as answering any questions they have about our culture.”
All students, no matter their background, are invited to attend India Night, as well as any other events hosted by ISA. “This Indian Student Association is not just for Indian students; we look out for everyone present on campus as well as off campus. They get to learn about Indian culture, about us and about the food we eat,” Pandey said.

One of the highlights of this event will be the Indian cuisine, made by the volunteers. “Some people might have never tried Indian food, or did not have a great experience with it, so getting to eat actual Indian food is important,” said Pandey.
Additionally, there will be a “DJ Night” during the last 40-45 minutes, where everybody can dance to music together. India Night is a great chance to meet new friends, try authentic Indian food and network. Tickets can be bought online.
