At the Moscow Public Library, there is an upcoming event geared toward math fans and bakers alike. On March 14 from 12-1 p.m., the library will host a delicious gathering where attendees can exchange their favorite pie recipes in celebration of Pi Day.
Rebecca Rivapalacio is the Adult Services Manager at the Moscow Public Library. She oversees all adult events at the library and is excited about the first Pi Day Recipe Exchange.
Rivapalacio explained how important community events are for the city of Moscow. She said, “I love being able to bring all community members together in one place. It’s really rewarding to give people the opportunity to hang out together and spend time together when they wouldn’t normally.”
She continues with some tips for those looking to attend. “I’m most excited to see what kinds of recipes people bring. I’m not a big baker, but after this, I might start. I would encourage people to print out multiple copies of their recipe beforehand,” she said.

Morgan Gardner was another contributor to planning this event. “A good friend of mine used to host a community pie night every year on March 14 to celebrate Pi Day, and I loved that idea. However, coordinating an actual pie exchange could be a bit tricky, so I thought a recipe exchange would be a perfect, simple way to celebrate the day,” Gardner said. “We’ll be providing refreshments to ensure everyone has plenty of pie, along with coffee or tea to enjoy.”
Rivapalacio describes the Pi Day Recipe Exchange as a no-stress event. While community members are encouraged to bring their favorite pie recipes, it is not a requirement to attend. The staff will be printing out their own recipes to contribute as well. Avid baker or not, community members are welcome to pop in anytime between 12-1 p.m.
Join the Moscow Public Library and their staff for an hour of good conversation, yummy pies and a festive celebration!
