The trial for Bryan Kohberger has been delayed by Ada County Judge Steve Hippler. The three-month trial was originally to start in June 2025 and is now scheduled to begin Aug. 11 and end on Nov. 7, 2025.
Kohberger was indicted following a six-week manhunt in December 2022. He is accused of killing four University of Idaho students, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin and Madison Mogen.
He is facing the death penalty if found guilty for the four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary. According to court documents, a hearing is scheduled on Nov. 7, 2024, for the defense to challenge the death penalty.
Kohbergers defense attorney, Ann Taylor, said she needed more time to process additional discoveries and work with a new defense witness. The trial was moved to Ada County last month from Latah County when the defense argued the impossibility of an unbiased jury in the county where the crimes occurred.
