The Idaho men’s basketball team will take on WAC competitor Nevada Wednesday night in Cowan Spectrum. This game is one of the last three conference home games the Vandals have left on
their schedule.

Nevada is coming off a loss to the Utah State Aggies Saturday night in Utah, where the Aggies held the Wolfpack by 11 points, 76-65.
The loss brought Nevada’s record to 13-9 and 5-4 in WAC play. Idaho’s record, with its big win over Boise State, is 11-11 and 3-7 in WAC play. Nevada has had conference wins over New Mexico State, San Jose State, Idaho, Boise State and Hawaii. All of Nevada’s wins have been within a 10-point margin. Idaho has three wins against Hawaii, Fresno State and Boise State. Idaho has not defeated the Wolfpack this year and hopes to carry their momentum from the Boise State victory into Wednesday, Idaho coach Don Verlin said.

Previously in the year, Idaho fell to the Wolfpack in Nevada, 76-68. In that game, Nevada’s Luke Babbitt scored 19 points to seal the win over Idaho. In Babbitt’s last game against Utah State, he put up 20 points. Idaho will look defensively to shut him down and push him away from the basket.

Along with Babbitt, Nevada’s Armon Johnson has been a key player for Nevada. Johnson scored 19 points against Utah State and will be another player the Vandals will need
to control.

In the Vandals’ last win against Boise State, the highlighted player of the game was senior Luciano de Souza, shooting four for five from the 3-point line to give Idaho its double digit lead, which carried them throughout
the game.

“The coaches told me to just bring all the energy that I had,” De Souza said.
He did just that and kept penetrating the basket from long range. Verlin said De Souza will be a large asset from beyond the key against Nevada.
