Voter Registration FAQ

Q: Should I register to vote in Latah County even though my parents live somewhere else?
A: If you are only in Moscow to attend school, and you intend to return to your parents' address after you are done, the state encourages you to vote in your parents' precinct. You can either travel to vote in person or request an absentee ballot from the county clerk's office.

Q: I am in Moscow for school but do not consider my parents' home my own, or I have no ties to my parents. I don't know where I will move after I graduate. Should I register to vote in Latah County?
A: Yes. If you have never voted in Latah County, if you have changed your name or address since you last voted or it if it has been more than four years since you last voted, you will have to re-register with the Latah County Clerk.

Q: How do I register to vote?
A: If you want to vote in Latah County, you can either register in advance with the county clerk, or you can register on election day at your polling place. You must provide proof of residence and photo ID. UI students can use their Vandal Card or driver's license and a copy of their current student fee statement that shows their current address.
