l Idaho women’s basketball has the NCAA’s youngest starting line-up, featuring four freshmen and one sophomore in the team’s last few games.
Four Idaho men’s basketball players scored in the double digits as the team lost to Louisiana Tech in Ruston, La.
Russ Winger won the discus at the Vandal Indoor track and field meet held on Friday by two centimeters. He overtook WSU’s Matt Lamb in his final throw. The discuss event was featured at the meet, but is an event typically held only in the outdoor season. The Kibbie Dome is only one of four facilities in the nation that can hold the event.
Idaho coach Angela Whyte ran at this weekend’s Vandal Indoor. She clocked a time of 7.92, which is the world’s fourth fastest time.

Michael Crowell
Men’s Basketball
After missing the first game of the men’s basketball team’s road trip, Crowell scored 13 points and had six rebounds in Idaho’s loss to Louisiana Tech. Crowell shot 5-of-11 from the field and played the entire game.
Katie Madison
Woman’s Basketball
The sophomore had another 20-point game as the Vandals fell to Louisiana Tech at Cowan Spectrum on Saturday. Madison was 7-of-9 from the field and had seven rebounds. She also was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
Paul Dittmer
Track and Field
Dittmer, a true freshman, ran a WAC and personal best in the 60-meter hurdles at the Vandal Indoor meet. Dittmer hails from Hanstedt, Germany was also named WAC track athlete of the week last week.

Saturday
Men’s basketball is back at home against Fresno State at 7:05 p.m. at Cowan Spectrum. This is also the second “Think Pink” game.
Women’s basketball travels to Reno to take on the Nevada Wolfpack at 7 p.m.
Members of the track and field team will travel to Seattle for the Husky Indoor Classic.
Sports Briefs
University of Idaho men’s track and field athlete Bastien Tardy earned Western Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Feb. 4-10.
Tardy, the WAC’s reigning indoor and outdoor 800-meter champion, made his season debut in his premier event at the Vandal Indoor last Friday as he won the individual title with a WAC-leading time of 1:53.58. That time is almost a full second better than the second-best time in the conference.
This is the first career honor for the senior from Voisins le Bretteneux, France, and the fifth total honor for the Idaho men’s and women’s track and field teams in the past four weeks. At least one Vandal track and field athlete has earned an athlete of the week honor in three of the past four weeks.
